We heard a lot of turkeys, saw none, but we sure had fun!

Finally installed the first duck box in the beaver pond. Pretty sure I found the beaver hut(s) too. As cold as it still is, there were tadpoles and small frogs swimming around.

Dam repairs
First step, temporarily lower water level by installing 12″ pipe through dam. Hopefully will be able to remove sediment from the other end. Later on we’ll put the pipe lower and install an elbow, vertical riser and a ‘trash guard’.
First nesting box up
I put up the first of eight wood duck nesting boxes yesterday. Hopefully we’ll get some nesting hens this spring.
Burning
Burned a ton of brush and old logs, been hesitating to do this for a while, waiting for the weather to cooperate.

No coyote in the trap yet, but this guy was in there. Took a while to get him out of the trap, but he finally scurried back into the woods. Possums are ugly! Now figuring where to move the trap to since this guy will probably go back for another dinner if I reset it there.

Lots of geese showing up in the big pond now, except on the days when the eagle is there!

Bought a large live-trap to try and thin out the coyote population. Was here a few weeks ago when the whole pack came by the house late at night, howling and yipping, unbelievable!
Baited it with half a chicken breast smeared with salmon cat food.
